Notes: This red seaweed has a discoid holdfast and regular dichotomous branching. The erect fronds are circular in cross section (the apparent channelling of some branches on this photo is an artefact; there are also sand grains stuck to the fronds). The apices taper and are often paler than the dark red fronds. The similar Furcella lumbricalis has a claw holdfast and longer tapering fronds.
