Having looked at the thumbnail I've come to the conclusion that I've miss-i.d.it; the flowers bear no resemblance to Embothrium,
I thought it might have been the same thing at a slightly different stage of development.
the leaves look similar, but it has been a long time since i've come across seed pods, don't discount it altogether, I'm just very unsure.
I was thinking that it was rather out of season for Embothrium coccineum, but I did't see any obvious reason to reject the interpretation that what is seen is the remnants of the flowers of that species.
However what we see is not anything like the fruits of Embothrium. (I photographed them a few years back at Logan Botanic Gardens.)
There's always Grevillea as an alternative.
