More Photos

If you have any more photos, showing the bark, buds, fruit or tree form it would be helpful - it could be a Hornbeam, or possibly a Southern Beech (Nothofagus) but more details will help distinguish

All the best

possible id

it looks quite like cherry, what sort of fruit does it bear ?

Not Nothofagus...

..as these leaves have the secondary vein running to the leaf edge and ending in a tooth.

Rauli, the vein is indented: Roble, the leaf margin is much more irregular than here.

I'd go for Hornbeam, Carpinus betulus.
