Spiraea?

I think that you may be right. In which case I got the scale wrong - I thought the leaves were about 2 inches long.

The common spring-flowering Spiraea is Spiraea x arguta.

Think so

What made me think this was that I have one the same but could not remember the latin name the one with loads of tiny white flowers right down the stem,it help if people would give a scale as photo's are deceptive

Thanks

Thanks to you both.

The leaves were quite short - maybe an inch or two long but will measure them next time I'm there. A bit annoyed with myself for not noting scale on this occasion as I normally do so.

It didn't remind me of a Cotoneaster but they can of course be quite variable. Will look up Spiraea as I'm not familiar with this genus.
