Orange & black bug

We don't seem to have a common name but in France where they and similar spp are much commoner I was told they were called "Gendarmes'. Had a garden record about 8 miles inland this year.

This bug seems to be spreading and becoming more common. It was always a 'coastal' species, but now turns up regularly in landlocked Surrey and Berkshire.
Like the name Gendarmes.Cannot remember if I have seen any other specimens this year as I would always take a shot if time & camera available. There has not been much migration in our garden as when I checked my Obs. of last year it was at a few days difference & only a metre away at most, however this bug was new to me last year & we also had a poor wet summer. Thanks Hazel
