Destructive to most if not all natural fibers, they'll make a right mess of your woollies.
Thanks all, I had a funny feeling it might be something I wouldn't want in the house... that's the trouble with moving into a house previously occupied by 5 cat's and their owner I guess.... carpets were pretty grim when moved in... now replaced thankfully, but hope this is the only one of these around.
Highly unlikely that its the only one. Generally I find them on internal walls or their cast skins, skirting-boards & floor-boards provide plenty of nooks & crannies for them to hide in. They also occupy bird-nests.
Will keep my eyes peeled for more then I guess.
