I didn't look obviously out of place in the field but I was really just taking a random photograph for an iSpot demonstration I was doing rather than carefully studying it.
I just assumed that it had had a narrow escape from some trap and dragged its tail out, resulting in the same effect you get when you run that decorative curling ribbon through scissors when you're wrapping presents (or not, in my case - I hate wrapping presents and it is a necessity not an artform:-))
