Agreed but

I've agreed above but as I understand it the genus Nomophila has been revised and there are now quite a few species largely indistinguishable from noctuella on external characters. Although I think only one other of them has ever been recorded from the UK.

Thanks for the information. Do you happen to have the reference? This moth is in SW France in a field of lucerne.

It is discussed in B. Goater's "British Pyralid Moths".

I think this is now out of print, although probably widely available in academic libraries.
