Large fungi dug out of border

This is a large fungi growing on the site of an old tree stump, (dont know what type of tree)in a garden border. The spade and shears in the background of the pictures will give some idea of the scale. It smelled of field mushroom and great was the temptation to take some home to fry. The last photo shows a strip of one of the 'leaves' with the gills beneath. It was a magnificent piece of nature and it grieved me to have to dig it out.

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!
