Description:

Notable smaller than nettle tap. Forewing about 5mm.
Added photos of retained specimen (which has lost a few scales)

the size

To answer dhobern's question to my mind the moths (and there were several of them) were just 'too small' to be Nettle-tap, forewing about 4mm long.

Confirmation

Rachel Terry has dissected this one and identified it as Nettle-tap. Still don't think it looked like one in the field, but there you go.
