Southern Bracket (Ganoderma adspersum)

Observed: 22nd September 2012 By: grey georgegrey george’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens

These fungi are here all year, but just recently the bottoms have turned white. They look like up side down iced buns. Growing on a living beech.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Ganoderma australe can be confused with Ganoderma applanatum you need to cut through the bracket and see a cross section of the pores to tell.I would have put the identification on as just Ganoderma
