It looks like either a male Common Darter, or a female Ruddy Darter (Sympetrum sanguineum) - though I'm erring towards Common Darter as you suggest.
Another difficult one, but on balance I would be inclined to say that this was a male Moustached/Vagrant Darter.
The relatively plain thorax sides, orange veins in the forewing, and slightly pinched abdomen (somewhere between the typical abdomen shapes of Common & Ruddy Darters) are all features that suggest this species, even though there does not appear to be an obvious 'moustache'.
Darters are tricky though, and I am not 100% certain that it is not a Common Darter!
Quite a few darters can sometimes show red pterostigmas.
