I wonder why a species such as this is so frequently stranded and found dead on the shore, just going by the number of similar obs in the carousel?
It seems to happen to Rays Bream more than many other species.
This site might be of interest, especially in relation to a Filey sighting...

Very interesting Ophrys, thanks for sharing. Falling water temperatures it seems.
All the ones on Ispot are strandings inwinter Nov,dec, jan (1 live & flapping in Oct),& all in the North sea.
They dont like the North Sea in the winter months.
