I went for it today and it showed pretty well. Photos nowhere near as good as this one though.
Ooops, sorry David. They were taken with a bog standard Sony S5 with bog standard fixed zoom! The bird was no more than 20 yards away!

It has been there a week or so. Misidentified as a Long-billed originally.
Even if it's now already a well-discussed record and known to be Short-billed, it would be useful to know what characters were seen/heard to confirm the species id...
One reason my pictures are not up here yet is that I want to go through them and find ones that show the key features before I upload an entry but in quick summary.
The tertials are more streaked than would be the case on long-billed. The bill is shorter (but without a bird next to it to compare to this is hard to confirm) and curved slighly near the top (on long-billed it would be straight). The supercilium is strongly curved.
