Brown spore-mass should cover the honey-comb tip. It has probably been removed by flies that are attracted by the rank smell it emits, i think from the gelatinous mucilage that envelopes the sporing body inside the capsule membrane.
I always smell these before I see them it was covered in fly's but they departed when I photographed it.
