same size as a ladybird only has a bee like bit sticking out the back bit...some sort of larvea?

Having looked closer at the image I think you are right Matt in saying it has been caught in emergence.
Mim8285, newly emerged ladybirds are orange/yellow, and that can be seen just below the M, which is indicative of a Harle- quin along with red and black patterned abdomen.
