Location?

Was this dragonfly photographed somewhere near to the given location?

I can see several features that would be atypical for Common Darter - the pale legs and plain brown thorax both showing virtually no black, and the obvious yellow-orange wing bases.
If it was photographed on the eastern side of America I would suggest:
Yellow-legged / Autumn Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum) as an ID (although I would be unable to be certain).

Edit: Don't worry about answering the opening question - I've just seen some of your bird observations from around the same time!
