Mole

Observed: 15th September 2012 By: cc_atkins
Mole
Description:

Forgot to add size (doh!): roughly 5"/12cm, and found dead in our suburban garden (it's in the bin now, & so can't be measured!). At least 1/2 a mile away from the closest rural field, I suspect it was accidentally dropped by one of the many Red Kites in our area. I thought maybe it was a mole because of the dark colour of the coat, but are the paws/claws big enough for them? (and the digging they need them for?).

Hamster?

Looks like somebody's pet hamster to me, although the tail could have been longer originally and bitten off.
