I wonder how many of the resident birds on the pond have ever encountered a Bonxie before. Not too many I bet which makes me wonder how the 'panicked' birds knew to give it should be given a wide berth

I think they 'know' the threatening shape and posture. Apart from that they take their cues from other, better educated, birds.
