Description:

A friend just sent me this pic he captured this evening while fly fishing a river. The bat attacked his fly dangling from the rod top and was snagged on the hook rather than impaled on it as can be seen. It was completely unharmed.

The Dollaghan had better taste than the poor Bat.What's that fly called? An 'Electric Charlie' perhaps!!

Think its kind of TBS

Think its kind of TBS variant. Very nbright blue as you say, but I dont think dollaghan are overly fussy at times? What do I know about it?

Thanks Jeremy and Noel too for the agreement and confirmation. I hadnt heard of the species before but it is incredibly common it seems from looking at the NBN map.

Thanks again,

Cathal.

Daubentons bats

Far from common but reasonably widespread in the right habitat - which is basicly rivers, lakes and ponds.

Hi Noel, Sorry for late

Hi Noel,

Sorry for late response, I thought it looked common on the NBN map, maybe widespread would be a better description of its occurance. Thanks again.

Cathal.
