Description:

On the ground among (mostly) hawthorn bushes. Ash, sycamore, and other hard-woods also present.
The stem was hollow, and there was a faint mushroom odour. No discolouration on splitting the stem and cap.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Coprinus disseminatus

You had the genus right, the above is much smaller very delicate with a buff-clay grey cap tends to damage easily when you try to pick them up.
