Found this chap on my doorstep this morning. He is around 4-5cm long, and his hair grows in regular clumps along his body. He has a whitish broken stripe down each side. I've no idea where he can have come from. There is a mature wild cherry in my garden but it is quite a way from where I found the caterpillar. My garden backs onto open parkland where there are mature oaks, limes and beech trees, all at some distance.
