Hoverflies - 2 Helophilus species
Description:

These 2 species of Helophilus are quite common in my area at present. On the left in the foreground is the larger, more lemon-coloured H. trivittatus and on the right in the background is the more orange H. pendulus. H. pendulus has a dark face-stripe (not visible in this photograph) and this is lacking in H. trivittatus.
Edit comment - I've just looked at this posting - if you click to enlarge the photo, you then need to click again on "view the original image" otherwise the photo is truncated and trivittatus has lost it's head!!!
