Common seal

This is a common seal and very much an uncommon sighting!

Common seals are far from common on the Yorkshire coast, grey seals are far more common. I would say I've seen one common seal for every 20 grey seals here even though there is a common seal breeding colony only 25 miles or so up the coast at seal sands in the mouth of the Tees river.
