B.lapidarius male

Look like a lapidarius to me too. The queen and workers are all females. this one is banded on the thorax because it is a male. They appear in the late summer.

Yes, this is a male red-tailed bumblebee. Notpop, perhaps you could add a revised ID with the scientific name (Bombus lapidarius) so that we can agree with your ID :)
