This hoverfly came to an actinic light trap in a garden.

Your side-on shot seems to me to show a swollen hind metatarsus which adds to the evidence supporting arbustorum.
Nothing on the face from what I can see of it to rule out this species.
I would have identified this as E. arbustorum had I seen it myself - although that judgement might be a bit rough and ready.
I think that there are some uncommon soecies that it might still be though.

Yes, if it is the same fly, then it is arbustorum, so I have agreed. abusivus is similar, but has a pale mid tibia and a face stripe...it can be eliminated from the picture.
