Is Conyza sumatrensis a possibility?
i have no idea, how would you tell?
University of Edinburgh and Biodiversity Observatory (OU)
The heads of C. sumatrensis would be densely hairy and the petals more purplish.
Thanks for this ID tip, Graeme. You may be interested to know that when there is information about how to tell species apart, such as you have given here, I add the tag 'IDTip' to my observation so that at some point in the future it can be used as a reference. One day we shall try to automate this on iSpot. Meantime, keep up the good work. It is so useful!
There is too much light in the picture. A good way to tell between canadensis and sumatrensis: Sumatrensis clearly has bigger flower heads. What you also should look out for: C. candensis has (at anthesis) clearly projecting, very white ligulate flowers.
