Description:

Seemed to be all black apart from pale hairs between abdomen segments and yellow hairs on lower face (manibles?). Long antennae and long abdomen - no pollen sacks. Perhaps an all black form of something usually more brightly coloured?

It is very difficult to do

It is very difficult to do these occasional melanistic bees, but the long malar space (between eye and jaw) suggests a melanic hortorum or ruderatus, both of which are prone to melanism. I don't think you are likely to get beyond the genus.
