Description:

I've puzzled about these small holes in the sandstone walls of the old quarry at Sandy Lodge RSPB for a long time now. I've never seen anything coming or going from them.
Anyone got any ideas?

old quarry

could these possibly be made by masonry bees?

The elements

Could it just be down to erosion?

Yes and Yes

I think it might be either, but I've been looking at them on and off for several years, and I've never seen anything coming in or going out. As for erosion, I just don't know.
Thanks for the suggestions though.
