Description:

Observed in an urban garden in Caerphilly. I followed it around the garden trying to get a good enough photo to illustrate the tarsus, which I understand should be yellow in Helophilus pendulus

Hind tibiae

It's the hind tibiae which you need to look at. In pendulus, only the apical third or so is dark, whereas in other species about two-thirds is dark.
