Description:

Today I was delighted to find a species that I'd never seen before - let alone photographed. The Musk Beetle is one of the largest and most distinctive UK species - but is scarce despite being widespread. Got a feeling this particular one was newly emerged, and was most cooperative in allowing me to take plenty of shots. It was near sallow and willow coppice at Blashford Lakes nature reserve. Pleased to have my father in tow with me as he'd never seen one of these before either! :D
