hard to say

It is really hard to be sure when at this stage as it could also be L.epidendrum you need to see the mature spore mass to be sure.

I have and I'm sure.

It showed it to the microscope before posting.

would help

It would help if you said that when posting it or how are we to know.

Oh dear

I thought the certainty of my ID would imply that...but I will bear that in mind.

Certainty doesn't necessarily imply expertise.

I've seen lots of interesting discussion between experts arguing their case over each's certainty. I've also corrected some who think they are certain when I know they are incorrect. I can be mistaken even when I think I am certain (particularly with Boletes for instance). Being certain does not neceassarily mean someone is aware of very closely similar species either (e.g. Scarlet Elf Cup). It gives people the evidence for your certainty if you could say you had examined these under a microscope perhaps in the ID notes. I know you are an expert from the info in your profile and having 3 mushrooms, however only the mushrooms are readily visible and they may not cover an expertise in slime moulds.

Fair points. Will bear in mind next time I post one.

Well blow me down!

I've just realised who you are!!! Where have the nest of vipers gone? Its funny how I have come to consider some iSpotters as almost friends and enjoy seeing their posts or reading their comments - you and Fenwickfield being among them. I thought it seemed strange that you had been part of the iSpot community for so long and I hadn't come across you!
I was given my name by the OU and thought I had left it too long to change as I might cause confusion. You seem to have managed the change but I shall miss your old name which I used to wonder if it was leenest of vipers or lee nest of vipers each time I saw it.

me too

I too had no idea, why change I thought your name was fine and too wondered why I had not seen any recent post and I know you have an interest in these.I wish I had known and probably would not have questioned your certainty on your id,Janet just leave your's as it is as I don't want any more confusion.
