Description:

A BeeWatch user observed a buff-tailed bumblebee removing this larva from a nest. Just wanted to know whether it is a wax-moth larva or an infected or dead bumblebee larva or something else.
Appreciate your thoughts.

Bumble bee and larva

This looks to me like a bumblebee larva. They will clean out dead larvae and, I believe, when the colony is under stress they will reduce larval numbers so there are not so many to feed and care for.
