Orange or Dingy Footman

Thanks for the comments Nature Girl and for the agreements in both directions moremoth and douglas.

I did log this one as a Dingy Footman at first but when I looked closely I noticed that the trailing edge of the forewing joins the base about a third across. The pictures in Waring and Townsend seem to indicate that in the Dingy Footman the trailing edge of the top forewing comes back to base close to the leading edge of the lower forewing - hope that makes sense.

I am not sure if I am much further forward in having confidence in what it is - definately a tricky one - I think I will have to wait until I find one that positively comes out as an Orange Footman and then check back against this one.
