OK, I found this historic observation trying to identify a couple of French Shield Bugs of my own, suspected Carpocoris species and I came across this:
I haven't translated all the French but your character looks an awful lot like C. mediterraneus to my eyes.
I'm probably missing something, though. Time to translate the French, perhaps.

I'd be interested to know the distinguishing features if you have a chance to point them out, though. As I hinted, I'm probably regarding the wrong features as key. It may help me with my own French Shield Bugs. It may even help me interpret the French on that site better than Reverso.
