Montbretia is a common garden escapee on the cliffs of the Llyn Peninsula, particularly around the Nefyn and Morfa Nefyn area.
This plant used to be a garden plant but as the bulbs reproduce so much and people dug them up and dumped them - it has now become an invasive species that it is so difficult to eradicate. Although it is a beautiful flower - to find it in the middle of a forest or on a hill, in so many places - shows that it will soon be as much of a problem as the himalayan balsam
