Description:

Now that the Large and Small Skippers are out at the same time, I'm still not confidently distinguishing the two (nor indeed whether there are any Essex Skippers on the moor, we're a bit north and west of the usual range). I think this one's a Large as there's no orange on the underside of the antenna, but what do you think? (We're ignoring the Common red Soldier Beetle.)

Out of range of Essex.

We're north of the normal range of the Essex, as shown on the NBN Gateway maps, only by 20-30 miles though.
