Pink flower with six or seven veined petals. Observed in wild area of a suburban garden in the north-east.

Malva has what looks like a

Malva has what looks like a feather duster in the center of the flower, where as the Geraiums have a spike with ovules at the base & 5 short filaments protruding from the tip.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have a closer look.

I haven't really got my head round plant anatomy yet, which is why I got this one so wrong!

A lot of learning still to do....

The feather duster are the stamens which produce the pollen. The stigmas, which receive pollen, emerge from the top of the featherduster; resembling the ribs of an umbrella.
