Colletes ID to species level from photos is unlikely, more of an educated guess - even given your great picks. In the in SW Scotkand you have four to choose from including the very restricted C floralis. If your bee is around heather then succinctus is the best candidate. I'd be happy to look at specimens if you'd like to collect a couple, then we could firm up the ID.
Although we do have a bit of heather in the garden there is not much around locally. It was in a wild area of our garden on yarrow and there is lots of other wild flowers including meadowsweet and ragwort. I took photos as I thought it was a bit different and hadnt noticed any like this before in the garden. I will look out for more.
