Snails everywhere
Description:

There were small snails everywhere on the grassland that covers the Iron Age fort. Thousands of them - so it was impossible to avoid them. They were small and mainly cream, but with grey or brown swirls in their spiral shell

The left-hand picture is a different species, Candidula intersecta, and would be best made into a different observation. I suspect that if you look carefully you will find several more species are present. Ancient calcareous grassland is good for snails, especially the Helicellinae.
