Balkan Sawing cricket (Saga natoliae) crossing road on Samos.
Balkan sawing cricket (Saga natoliae)
Description:

I came across this 8-10cm monster crossing a road in the mountains of Samos. I'm sure it's a male Saga and the only one whose looks and distribution seems to fit is S. natoliae - the largest predatory insect in Europe which eats other orthopterans and even lizards! http://www.onem-france.org/saga/wakka.php?wiki=SagaNatoliae
