This looked like a robust bee (1.5cm) - black with yellow basal wing patches.
There were several flying round the marjoram plants.
No interactions present.
Not a Beefly (Bombylius), but sometimes called the Bumblebee Fly. It is a Tachinid, developing in the body of large moth caterpillars.
