was thinking southern hawker but the pics look different to other photos of male and female ?

The wide antehumeral stripe on top of the thorax and the undivided abdominal stripes on segments 9 and 10 identify this species.

There is some sort of curious size illusion in the photograph which shows two dragonflies together.
Both are Southern Hawkers, and will be roughly the same size - but the brighter mature male in the foreground appears to be only half the size.
