L.birnbaumii is called Plantpot Dapperling by the way.
As Davis says L birnbaumii is normally more yellow even when it gets older. I would offer to look at the specimen as I only live down the road but it could well be an exotic import and my books might not cover such species.
Thank you! I was wondering if it was a Dapperling but I'm totally new to fungi ID. I went to check on it last night but it's shriveled and died, so I don't know about the ring unfortunately. It was a bit more yellow than in the photo. It was growing in a plant pot indoors (with a small lime tree!). If any more appear I'll check again!
