Medium sized fly [body about 10mm long], with orange/red markings either side of the abdomen.

Early

I was just having a quick check before going off bird ringing...I'm not usually up at that time! Have to get the nets up by 5 o'clock, as the main rush of birds comes very early. By 9 o'clock it has all gone quiet and I'm heading home for breakfast!

Eriothrix, by the way, is very common at the moment and a good one to get used to, for comparison with anything different.
