As an expert, your ID holds a lot of weight. I think it would be more sensible not to guess, but to stick at genus level, if you are not sure. If no other expert (it would need a few non-experts, presumably) comes along to correct the ID, then this will stay at what is clearly a wrong ID.

I agree completely, that's why I stuck to genus level. Still got it wrong though.
...was the wrong word, but you know what I meant. If you hold an expert badge, it seems obvious that you don't guess!
Now I've agreed with your ID which has switched the identification to yours. As long as I check my guesses later and switch to a better ID the correct one should be confirmed.
That makes sense, thank you. I am sure you will understand the frustration that can come when an expert gives a wrong ID and then does not go back to look at the sighting again.
Yes it's a shame there's no sort of messaging system whereby you can contact a contributor to remind them. It would also come in useful if you wanted the opinion of a known expert (a real one that is!).
