Colletes ID

Colletes are quite hard to ID to species level even with a specimen so I'm not sure if you'll get a firm ID. Up here in Scoatland daviesanus is the one encountered on yellow asreacea. In the south you have a few other species to consider.

Colletes on Asteraceae

Just to confirm what Ardea has said. Although C daviesanus is a likely ID, it cannot be distinguished without a specimen from C similis and C fodiens.
