Description:

I found this chap on the southwest coast path in south Devon. Open grass land near gorse bushes. I'm guessing it's the juvenile form of a beetle. Slow moving. Anyone know more exactly?

Bloody not nosed beetle

Looking at Google, these look nothing like Bloody nosed Beetles. We saw a couple on the Pembrokeshire coast path at the weekend. The search continues methinks.

This is the larval stage of one of the two species of Bloody-nosed Beetle. If you google "Timarcha larva" you'll find, among others:
