I can return to this particular plant and take more photos and/or measurements. Would anything in particular help pinpoint the species?
if you could look at the seed on smooth they are wrinkled and on perennial they are flat and ribbed.
leaves are matt on smooth and shiny on perennial also the leaf is clasping pointed auricles at the base on smooth but rounded auricles at the base on perennial.
I hope this helps both exude milk when the stem is broken
I'm afraid my investigation skills aren't great. I checked the leaves and to my mind they are glossy rather than matt which would indicate Perennial. However I had difficulty finding the "auricles". I've uploaded 2 photos, the first showing how the leaves clasped the stem, with rounded lobes. The second shows an extra leaf that seemed to grow from the stem within the lower leaves (I saw several of these) - however this was pointed.
Your spot on with Perennial, Auricle - pair of lobes at the base of a leaf, sorry I doubted you but I always like to be 100% sure before I agree with an id as some stuff is sometimes wrongly identified.
I had a look at your website it look's fantastic it may be worth starting a separate sub section for your fungi as I am sure you will find more especially in the autumn. The layout is great nothing I can see that would need changed and lovely photos.
Many thanks Sheila! Glad you liked the site.
