I don't doubt that you are right, but there is not enough detail for me to give an agreement...I could not rule out other species. If you could describe what they looked like, that would help.

Err, they looked like cold Turnstones, Red legs, grey/black streaked plumage (winter style). I had been watching them for a few days at this time of year and was surprised to see them on the ice flot.
